About Craton Consulting

What we do

Craton Consulting provides a range of services for global enterprises and technology startups to thrive. Harnessing deep domain expertise, scalable consulting best practices, and unprecedented talent development opportunities, Craton is uniquely positioned to drive successful outcomes for companies considering Montana in their growth strategy.

So...what's a craton?

A Craton (pronounced cray-taan) is the portion of the Earth's crust that has achieved long-term stability. Distinct from the upper crust, which is constantly in flux with earthquakes, volcanoes, erosion, and assorted tectonic shifts, cratons never falter or shift. From Craton Consulting's perspective, it’s a metaphor that in the past several decades technology paradigms and business models are constantly changing, but there are cratons in the business world too - ideals and concepts that hold true in spite of this constant change.

Integrity, honesty, transparency, hard work, loyalty, and teamwork. These are the bedrock principles - the cratons - that I believe are essential for driving a business to success.

When I evaluated what the next chapter of my career looked like - the idea of building or affiliating with companies that held to these core ideals - even when building the latest cutting-edge solutions, Craton was a natural name to build upon.

About Craton's founder

Tom Stergios

Tom is a consultant and career builder with more than 30 years experience delivering solutions for clients. He started his career at Accenture and followed that with exciting professional chapters at Presidio Consulting, IBM, Cygent, and Convergys before launching a career with ATG.

Tom's time at ATG was highlighted by the creation of the Missoula Solution Center in 2011, which grew to 300 consultants working with more than 150 clients around the world. In 2018, ATG was acquired by Cognizant, landing a Fortune 200 company in Montana. Following the acquisition, ATG Cognizant - in collaboration with The University of Montana, AccelerateMT, and the Montana Department of Commerce - created the award-winning Aim Higher program. This program created more than 200 jobs, largely with people coming from non-technology background in the services, trades, education, and tourism industries.

The Missoula Solution Center created more than $650m in economic impact for Western Montana. Time to run it back!
